Organized on 2 June 1917, the 12th Reconnaissance Squadron has participated in five major conflicts earning a reputation as one of the finest reconnaissance squadrons in the Air Force. Except for a brief stint as a fighter squadron, the 12th has remained a reconnaissance squadron throughout its 100 years of existence.
