Organized on 2 June 1917, the 12th Reconnaissance Squadron has since served with distinction in five major conflicts earning a reputation as one of the finest reconnaissance squadrons in the Air Force. Except for a brief stint as a fighter squadron, the 12th is one of the few squadrons to carry the same mission, reconnaissance, throughout its 100 years of existence.
